As one of Eaton’s UPS products, the 9355 is specifically designed to protect critical loads—such as computers and servers—that have high power requirements. It delivers a rated output power with a power factor exceeding 0.9. In today’s IT industry—spanning sectors like telecommunications, insurance, banking, and industrial automation—the protection provided by the 9355 has become an essential component of IT infrastructure. Key features of this product include: the use of IGBT rectification technology and active input power factor correction (PFC) technology, which ensures that the input harmonic distortion (THD) is less than 3%; and thermal synchronization paralleling technology.
The 9355 employs patented ABMTM battery management technology to perform intermittent charge-discharge management and real-time status monitoring of the battery. It charges the battery only when necessary, thereby reducing the damage caused by float charging currents and effectively preventing battery “passivation.” This not only extends the battery’s service life by more than 50% but also promptly provides users with advance warnings about the battery pack’s operating status and potential faults.
Employing the third-generation Hot-Sync™ direct parallel technology, the system enables N+1 redundant parallel operation of multiple UPS units. Each UPS in the system remains synchronously parallel-connected, eliminating the need for communication cables to transmit real-time data among them. Each UPS operates independently and automatically balances the load evenly. The Hot-Sync parallel system effectively eliminates the risk of single-point failures, significantly enhancing the overall stability and reliability of the parallel system.
The system boasts exceptionally high overall efficiency, reaching as much as 94% even at half load. In today’s data center power systems, 80% of UPS units operate at a load rate below 50%. Due to the widespread adoption of parallel operation and dual-bus redundancy systems, the actual load borne by each individual UPS is remarkably low. As a result, most UPS systems are currently operating far beyond their optimal capacity—akin to using a heavy-duty horse to pull a light cart. Therefore, for users, the overall efficiency of a UPS at half load or lighter loads is what truly matters in practical terms. The following chart illustrates the overall efficiency curve of the 9355 model.
Even under half-load conditions, the 9355 UPS still achieves an overall efficiency of up to 93%. In contrast, competing UPS models only manage an efficiency of 91% to 92% at half load. Moreover, to meet the national power standards requiring an input power factor greater than 0.95 and an input harmonic distortion below 5%, all competing manufacturers must either install an active input filter or opt for a 12-pulse configuration—both of which would further reduce the UPS’s overall efficiency by 3% to 4%. As a result, the overall efficiency of these competing UPS models would drop to around 88%.
The Powerware Software Suite enables the 9355 to protect all network devices, with the advantage of allowing network devices to be shut down sequentially during prolonged power outages. If necessary, the 9355 can also be integrated into any network management system and building management system.
